Those of you who visited this page in the past know that I did my own interpretation of the song when the recording and release of the Spanish version was only a rumour. Now it's a fact. I have uploaded the official Spanish lyrics and my English translation of them. You will still find the lyrics of my own interpretation. If you want to listen to the song, check out Madonna Rio.
As a devoted Spanish fan I must say that it's wonderful that Madonna decides to release material in Spanish. I must add that the reinterpretation of the song (i.e: Spanish lyrics) is gorgeous and the lyrics fit to the theme of the song. (Notice, though, that in the official Spanish version, the "good little girls/they never show it" bit is not there!). But the only "but" is an important one. I was pretty sure that at this point Madonna's Spanish would be much much better. I was wrong. And I say this, me, a person whose mother tongue is not English and I realise that I still have to do a lot to have a perfect English -if that is ever possible-. I admit and I am really happy that Lo Que Siente La Mujer is way much better than Verás (lyrics were disgraceful, Madonna's Spanish not that good at all).

Finally, I must say that although I like the Spanish version, I still prefer the original one. It always happens the same. If it was new material it would be ok, but when a song is reinterpreted, you always look at it through different eyes.     ~Emma aka emmadonna~

What It Feels Like For A Girl   -   Spanish version

CÓMO SE SIENTE UNA CHICA

Spoken Intro:

Las chicas pueden llevar tejanos
Cortarse el pelo
Llevar camisas y botas

baby
Tejanos ceñidos
Piel que se ve a trozos
Fuerte por dentro
Pero no lo sabes
Las chicas buenas
Nunca lo demuestran
Cuando abres la boca para hablar
¿podrías mostrarte más débil?

¿Sabes tú cómo se siente una chica?
¿Sabes cómo se siente en este mundo
una chica?

Pelo enredado dulcemente entre los dedos
baby
Manos sobre caderas arrepentidas
Dolor que no puede mostrarse
Lágrimas que caen cuando nadie te ve
Cuánto mejor intentas ser
¿podrías serlo menos?

¿Sabes tú cómo se siente una chica?
¿Sabes cómo se siente en este mundo
una chica?
¿Sabes tú cómo se siente una chica?
¿Sabes cómo se siente en este mundo?
¿Cómo se siente una chica?

Fuerte por dentro
Pero no lo sabes
Las chicas buenas
Nunca lo demuestran
Cuando abres la boca para hablar
¿Podrías mostrarte más débil?

¿Sabes tú cómo se siente una chica?
¿Sabes cómo se siente en este mundo
una chica?
¿Sabes tú cómo se siente una chica?
¿Sabes cómo se siente en este mundo
una chica?
En este mundo
¿Sabes tú...?
¿Sabes tú...?
¿Sabes tú cómo se siente una chica?
¿Cómo se siente en este mundo?

LO QUE SIENTE LA MUJER
© 2001 Official version

Spoken Intro:

Girls can wear jeans
Cut their hair short
Wear shirts and boots
'Cos it's ok to be a boy
But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading
Because you think that being a girl is degrading
But secretly, you'd love to know what it's like,
wouldn't you?
What it feels like for a girl

Deliciosa
Labio suave y rosa
baby
Piel de miel
Dulce y silenciosa
Te parece confundida
Su pasión está escondida
Nunca sabes lo que va a decir
Cuando empieza a sonreír

¿Quieres ver lo que siente la mujer?
¿Quieres ver y tratar de comprender
la mujer?

Seductora pero nunca fácil
baby
Misteriosamente dura y frágil
Lágrimas que no te enseña
Su dolor no deja huella
No la trates ya de impresionar
Sólo déjate llevar

¿Quieres ver lo que siente la mujer?
¿Quieres ver y tratar de comprender
la mujer?
¿Quieres ver lo que siente la mujer?
¿Quieres ver y tratar de comprender
lo que siente la mujer?

Te parece confundida
Su pasión está escondida
Nunca sabes lo que va a decir
Cuando empieza a sonreír

¿Quieres ver lo que siente la mujer?
¿Quieres ver y tratar de comprender
la mujer?
¿Quieres ver lo que siente la mujer?
¿Quieres ver y tratar de comprender
la mujer?
Comprender.
¿Quieres ver...?
¿Quieres ver...?
¿Quieres ver lo que siente la mujer
Y tratar de comprender?

WHAT THE WOMAN FEELS
My translation of the Official Spanish version
© 2001 Emma aka emmadonna

Spoken Intro:

Girls can wear jeans
Cut their hair short
Wear shirts and boots
'Cos it's ok to be a boy
But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading
Because you think that being a girl is degrading
But secretly, you'd love to know what it's like, wouldn't you?
What it feels like for a girl

Charming
Sweet and pink lip
baby
Honey skin
Sweet and silent
You think she is confused
Her passion is hidden
You never know what she is going to say
When she starts smiling

Do you want to see what the woman feels?
Do you want to see and try to understand
The woman?

Seductive but never an easy girl
baby
Mysteriously strong and fragile
Tears she never shows to you
Her pain never leaves mark
Don't try now to impress her
Just let yourself be carried along

Do you want to see what the woman feels?
Do you want to see and try to understand
The woman?
Do you want to see what the woman feels?
Do you want to see and try to understand
What the woman feels?

You think she is confused
Her passion is hidden
You never know what she is going to say
When she starts smiling

Do you want to see what the woman feels?
Do you want to see and try to understand
The woman?
Do you want to see what the woman feels?
Do you want to see and try to understand
The woman?
Understand
Do you want to see...?
Do you want to see...?
Do you want to see what the woman feels
And try to understand?
